How much does insulation cost in Auckland?

Can I get a grant or subsidy for insulation?
You may be able to. The government’s Warmer Kiwi Homes programme can cover a large share of the cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation and ground moisture barriers for eligible homeowners, for example those with a Community Services Card or in lower-income areas. Eligibility and funding levels change, so it’s worth checking the current criteria with EECA, and we’re happy to help you work out where you stand.
Will insulation help keep my home cooler in summer?
Yes. People often think of insulation as a winter thing, but it works year-round. In summer it slows heat from building up inside, helping rooms stay cooler and reducing how hard a fan or heat pump has to work. Ceiling insulation makes the biggest difference here, since a hot roof space is a major source of summer heat gain.
Does my rental need insulation to meet Healthy Homes?
Yes. Ceiling and underfloor insulation has been compulsory in rental homes since 1 July 2019, wherever it’s reasonably practicable to install, and existing insulation may need topping up to meet the Healthy Homes insulation standard. We can assess your rental, tell you exactly where it stands and bring it up to standard.
