At Panda Solutions, we provide a range of services to keep your rental properties in excellent condition while also ensuring compliance with Healthy Homes Standards.

Bathroom Extractors

In most houses, the bathroom is the room where ventilation is most required. Opening windows or doors is not always a viable option, so bathroom extractors are essential. They are also a key requirement of Healthy Homes Standards.

We can install extractor fans that are appropriately sized for the bathrooms in your rental properties. We use high-quality components and products, and we work to the highest standards of workmanship.

Kitchen Extractor Fan Services

One of the main objectives of the Healthy Homes Standards is to make homes not only warmer, but also drier. That means implementing solutions for parts of rental properties where there are large amounts of moisture in the air.

This includes kitchens. At Panda Solutions, we can install new kitchen extractors as well as replacing existing extractors that are not up to the job. You’ll find our prices are competitive and we deliver high workmanship standards.

FAQs

We’re a one-stop shop for getting Auckland rentals warm, dry and Healthy Homes compliant. That includes insulation, heat pump, bathroom and kitchen extractor fans, smoke alarms, ground moisture barriers, gutters and downpipes, draught stopping and general property maintenance. We can handle a single job or bring a whole property up to standard.

It depends on what the property needs, which we’ll know after an assessment. Some homes only need a few items addressed, while others need more work across several standards. Once we’ve assessed it, we’ll give you a clear scope, quote and timeframe. In most cases, we can get the house up to the healthy homes standard within two weeks.

New smoke alarms in rentals must be photoelectric and either hardwired or fitted with a long-life (at least 8 years) sealed battery. The older replaceable-battery and ionisation alarms don’t meet the requirement. We install compliant photoelectric alarms so you don’t have to worry about getting the specification right.

Yes. Ceiling and underfloor insulation has been compulsory in rental homes since 1 July 2019, wherever it’s reasonably practicable to install. Since 1 July 2025 all private rentals must meet the full Healthy Homes Standards from the start of the tenancy. This means insulation is one of the key requirements that landlords need to have in place before renting out their property.

Rentals must meet the Healthy Homes insulation standard. In practice this means ceiling and underfloor insulation that reaches a minimum R-value, or thickness and in reasonable condition. We’ll check what’s there and tell you whether it passes or needs topping up.
